Season 3 was to turn out to be quite a season, both on and off the pitch. Clive “The Cat” Bunce finally gave up his gloves and was asked to Manage the team. A new training pitch was found, the Astro Turf at Kings Intl College, and training started every Thursday throughout the year.
We got off to a good start, unbeaten in the first three games only to lose to AFC Staines 3-2 after being 2-1 up. This result led “The Cat” to quit and in stepped the current Manager to take temporary charge. The other off pitch issue was money, or should I say the lack of it. The treasurer was booted out of this job and the club for taking money. Off the field the club was in bad shape.
On the pitch it was getting better, you could see the improvements. We finished this season a respectable mid table 7th and got our first ever draw, 3-3 against Staff Strikers. We were certainly improving and off field events had to be sorted before we could move forward.
