          Rose & Thistle FC 2 v 2 College Old Boys         (Division 2)

Team: Pickett, Marshall, Leach, Marsden, Gray, Harris, Holman, Waygood, Gadsen, Lindley, Scales

Thistle approached this game full of confidence on the back of several good performances both in league and cup. Only one team change with Conetta dropping himself from the starting XI giving Pickett a chance between the sticks. Despite recent good form, Thistle started slowly against a much changed Old Boys team from the seasons previous encounter. Old Boys threatened early with their strikers causing Thistles defence problems in behind, and a goal soon followed. A good one two on the edge of Thistles box saw the Old Boys right winger get in the box and score, 1-0 Old Boys. This didn't seem to have any effect on Thistle who continued to struggle in attack with Scales often isolated up front and Lindley and Gadsen struggling to get into the game. After several offside decisions and pressure Old Boys doubled their lead. A corner from the right wasn't dealt with in the Thistle box and the Old Boys right winger managed to hook a shot past Pickett, 2-0 Old Boys. Only now did Thistle wake up with Waygood, Holman and Harris slowly influencing the game more. Half time came with Thistle coming into the game slowly and having a few half chances through Lindley, Scales and Waygood.

Half time and manager Conetta was not to pleased and wanted to change things round. 2 Changes, Miller on for Gadsen, Allery on for Scales.

The second half began a little more promisingly for Thistle with more pressure on the ball and threat up front. The defence started to dominate which allowed Thistle to get the ball forward quickly with Allery having a good chance flash just wide. The pressure was increasing from Thistle as Miller's crossing and Lindley's dribbling started causing danger in the Old Boys box. The pressure finally paid off with about 15 minutes remaining, a corner from the left taken by Holman was swung into a great area and a Marsden towered above everyone to power a header into the roof of the net, 2-1 Old Boys. The goal changed the game giving Thistle belief to salvage a point and Old Boys dropped noticeably deeper. The defence now pushed right up the halfway line helped pin Old Boys back in their own half. Following a foul on Miller on the halfway line, Holman drove a speculative ball into the box, and with no one challenging the bounced high of the ground 8 yards out, and Marsden strolled in and headed into the net, 2-2. Thistle now sensed a winner, but in the following minutes just couldn't get the ball forward. Old Boys responded and threatened late on with Pickett making a good last ditch save to keep Thistle level. The game was played out with a draw being a fair result as neither team played well enough to win.

2 points dropped for Thistle but the unbeaten run continues as the season reaches its climax, with conetta still unbeaten as new manager.
