Rose and Thistle 1 v 0 Frimley Falcons             (Divison 3 League Match)

After last weeks farce, this week had to get better... didn’t it ??

Wounds being licked and egos well and truly bruised the lads learnt a hard lesson last week. If they need a boost then this was the game to do it. Having been the only team to take points of League Leaders Frimley Falcons, only the 1 point following the hand of God incident, we had something to prove to ourselves AND the other teams in the is league. Midfield was decimated with Waygood out, Arse hurt from the night before, Dick Holman out, foot injury following Wyagood falling on him, and Patrick Miller who, you selfish sod, taking up a new post in London and so out of the running all together. That said, we have a good squad the guys coming in were just as good and wanted to prove it.

Starting line up Conetta, Gray, Oakey, Goacher, Leach, Lindley, Harris, Marshall, Gadsen, Bunce, Scales SUBS: Davison, Trigger. No, Mr Winnard, in Manchester, Marsden still out injured.

1st Half - With the lads wanting to prove something their fight was up from the 1st min. About bloody time, said the manager. A 451 formation found Harris playing in a starring role and breaking up the Falcons attack. A very even first half ensued, the defence playing as a unit , and proving Davison right in believing the previous week was just a freak. Midfield again battled hard with Buncey flying all over the pitch helping out every where. The wingers putting their heart into it with Marshall working hard to keep his place. Scales up front is getting ever better, but can still do loads to become on of the best strikers in this league. Well done Rik, a solid performance. Captain Cup Cake Conetti getting back to his usual best, keeping the team together and showing his worth as the Captain. So half time 0-0.

2nd Half - No subs at half time, the lads very bouyant and for once they ALL seemed to want to win this game and play their hearts out.

Again, like the first it was tight , but if truth be told Thistle were looking the better side. Frimley Falcons not really showing why they are top! If anything we looked like the Top of Table side not them! And guys start believing it cos its true. the defining moment of the game came via Mr Awesome... who else. . A nice cross from the right found Jonny with a fantastic header to hit the back of the net.. 1-0 Thistle. And another thing to remember guys, the celebration that happened after that goal was the most emotional I’ve seen this season.

Falcons kept on coming but the back four of Goacher, Oakey , Leach and Gray stood firm. This was a great performance by each and every one of them, communication, determination, and the will not to concede a goal. Falcons did get the ball in the net towards the end but it was flagged for offside. Davison came on for Harris who suffered cramp towards the end and Tom Trigger making his debut came on for Awesome who lost his balls somewhere near the penalty box after a Falcons clearance hit home !! OUCH!

Gadsen suffered what turns out to be a broken finger a few mins into the second half but played on regardless, again he had another good match. get ready to sign the cast on Thursday night lads !

Again you showed that you want to win, and bloody hell its hard work... BUT its worth it. We are no longer the underdogs, with that effort every week you’ll be winners for sure.

M.O.M - Falls to two people, Mr Gray again for a great performance at the back and Adam “Smasher” Harris for playing a fantastic match.. well done !
