Forest Park 4 v 2 Rose & Thistle - Division 2

Who’s In The House... Not many lucky to find 11 !

“It’s a Kinda Magic....... It’s a kinda magic..... 1 Dream , 1 Hope, 1 Golden chance of having a squad to choose from.”

Yet another week of players away, players injured and players turning up late. Just another week of Rose & Thistle. With so many things going on I’m pleased to say that this week saw Greg Sutton make his first team start for the club. Well done Greg. Apart from that, the usual shuffle 10 mins before kickoff with players turning up late and the squad and formation being turned on its head... and you wonder why I get peeved off with the whole thing.

1st Half - Anyway, 1st half underway and the game looks tight. For a team in second place they quite average really. Both teams having plenty of tackles, the paring of Gray and Harris doing well and Buncey going in hard when it mattered. I would say that Forest Park were just edging the game when a nice long throw from Rik found the ball bounce in front of the keeper and Chewy Marshall nipped in to head it over the keeper. 1-0 Thistle. Against the run of play at that point a very Dodgey freekick was given on the edge of the box. A neat drive found the ball kissing the post as it went into the corner of the net 1-1, Toni no chance. Thistle tried to step up a gear bu alas the second went in via the post 2-1 Forest Park. Right at the end of the first half Gray went down injured and with 20 seconds left on the clock saw out the first half.

2nd Half - With the first half being fairly even in terms of possesion and genuine goal scoring opertunities, the second half thistle never really got going. Phil Gray was replaced by Leach during the interval after being landed on by Adam "the oil tanker" Harris. Thistle never really got the ball down and for some reason seemed unable to play there game. The one time this did occur..gadsden went close and forced there keeper into two good saves after good work down the left hand side. Then came the 3rd for Forest park...a big kick that bypassed the midfield was flicked on for the Forest striker to run onto and lob over Toni...which in truth Conetta had no chance of stopping...3-1 Forest Park. Tactical changes were made with Winnard replacing Sutton and a 50% fit allery replacing Paul..but we had to change our tactics to try and change this result.

Now some internal controversy for our 2nd goal, with the ball being crossed into Forest Park's box and gadsden winning the intial header there was a scramble between there goalkeeper and two defenders who all seemed to have somehow missed the ball. Bunce then roars into the box and hits the back on the net from about half a yard!!!..graeme claims that this was his goal and that it was a corker, but gadsden thinks it crossed the line from his initial header so should count as his. Then came our chance to equalise!.. this came from a big clearance out by George with Allery nicely flicking the ball over the Forest defence and Rik with a nicely timed run having a one-on-one with the keeping.........but this chance was missed...rik tried to delicately lob the keeper but put the ball over the bar.

After this not alot seemed to happen except the ball stay in the air for long periods, holman working hard, marshall getting up and down but still Thistle didnt look comfortable. Another goal which came from there goalkeepers huge kick bounced between our midfield and defence and resulted in there striker running behind our defence and rounding Conetta before slotting it home...in all truth a disappointing goal to concede.

Final score -   Forest Park 4 -2 Rose and Thistle

With so many injury's and players missing this was always going to be a tough game. Lets hope we can get everyone back and start to get some wins/points on the board from now on.

Thanks to Stu for the Second Half write up. See its quite easy, so any more for the coming matches gratefully received.

M.O.M - Buncey, a solid game and a goal.
