Rose & Thistle 3 v 2 Forest Park - Division 2
Wet, Windy & Wild At Kings !
A very windy day met the Thistle team as putting out the nets was a feat in itself. On top of that the ref pulled out on Sunday morning leaving Davison to pick up the pieces again. And so to the Pre match amble. With Davison possibly heading out to Saudi to work for 3 months after Christmas he let Gadsen take the helm again. An unchanged formation and onyl two player changes, Davison and M Waygood out, Marsden & Harris in.
1st Half - Choosing to play against the strong wind Thistle battled to keep the ball on the deck. Some good play between midfield and attackers gave them some early chances but the Forest Park keeper was having none of it and pulled off some good saves. As the half progressed the wind was getting stronger and Thistle found themselves being camped in their own half. Pickett’s kicks weren’t even reaching the half way line. Forets Park had several chances but didn’t convert them. Then just as it was looking like a good first half of 0-0 a well saved corner by Pickett lead to the goal. Greg decided to speed up the play and short kick from his save out to the right, this was picked up by Forest Park who then surged forward and poked the ball home in to the corner of the net 0-1 down. Then came the rain, and boy it threw it down. For about 5 mins it deluged and the pitch found itself swamped with water. This made it tought for both sides but Forest Park just wanted another goal. Davison blew for half time 0-1 behind.
2nd Half - No Subs at half time.
Second half underway and Thistle playing with the wind and in the half that had the most water. Thistle came out of the blocks determined to get vack into the game. Then came the equalizer. A ball over the top was going out but for some reason the Forest Park skipper pulled Marsdens shirt to stop him from running for it, Davison had no choice but to point to the spot.. Boy did he get some shit. Its no wonder the game is struggling to keep their refs if this is what they put up with week in week out. A blatant shirt pull in front of the ref and still they complained. Penalty given, Allery tucked it away, 1-1.. or was it? Forest Park appealed for the ref to speak to the Lino and it “seemed” there was encroachment. Davison ordered the penalty to be retaken much to the annoyance of Thistle. Allery steps up again and this time hits the crossbar, the ball bounces down and then into the net, NOW its 1-1. Thistle increased their lead after a well worked corner found the ball fall to Lindley who fired it home. 2-1 Thistle. Forest Park still moaning about everything kicked up a gear and their persistence paid off, a thumping header found the back in it 2-2. Allery had a chance to score but after shrugging off a foul and rounding the keeper he promptly shot it into the side netting. However all was to come good when Waygood drove home Thistles 3rd. 3-2 on the day and a good 3 points in the bag.
M.O.M - Conetta a bloody good match again from Toni proving it hard to drop him.
