Ironside 2 v 0 Rose & Thistle  - Surrey Cup Rd 2

A Sunday Stroll In The Park

Missing yet another batch of players for this game, the manager had to grin and bear it. The club mini bus was brought in to ferry most of the lads down to the game with George “We’re DOOMED, DOOMED I say..” Frazier Walker pointing out that if we did crash and were all killed we wouldn’t be called the Busby Babes as we are too old! This kept freakiing out Phil Gray who at every opportunity was pointing out to the driver where he was going wrong, and to be careful.

Suffice to say we got there, in one piece ready for the match.

1st Half - A rather dull and tepid first half saw Thistle trying to break down the opposition but without much luck. The midfield were not taking the game by the scruff of the neck and the guys upfront struggled to make any impact. We had some chances but nothing major. The Ref was a bit strange though. A nice clearance from MOM Conetta found the opposing striker to fall over Toni’s leg in the box only for the ref to blow his whistle for a foul. Unreal. What made it worse was when he got to penalty box he promptly decided it was outside the box and gave a freekick... wrong on sooo many counts! the first half rumbled on and at the whistle it was 0-0.

2nd Half - A half time change found out of form Marshall being replaced with late comer Gadsen. Marshall struggling form the off in this game with an inhaler required and tight hamstrings.

Gadsen tried to turn the game but didn;t have much luck. Ironsides first goal came from the winger out pacing Phil Gray and firing into the corner and their second coming from a poor clearenace by Dave. 2-0 down in a game that really we should be dominating and winning, but we so struggled this week. Walker came off towards the end of the game and Davison replaced him. The match came to a close and the better team on the day won. Roll on the next match.

After the match we climbed back in to the van and headed off to the pub.

M.O.M - Conetta, in a team score of 5’s and 6’s Toni made the best of the day.
