AFC Krooner  2 v 2 Rose And Thistle           (Division 3 League Match)

Another Sunday, Another game, Another different performance, Another head scratching, Another last minute change to the team sheet, Another two goals conceded, Another Draw, Another game of missed opportunities, Another game of frustration, Another step towards 3rd place.....Another, Another Another... I could go on.

This weekend we saw manager Davison go from Centre Back to Goalie as Cup Cake got lost getting to Heatherside, thanks to Bobby’s GREAT directions, and from Goalie to sub and from Sub to Ref. All in about 30 minutes. With Cup cake no where to be found it meant a quick shuffle at the back with Harris being placed in the Centre, much to the annoyance of Gray who had spent the last few days syncing himself up to play next to Davison. “Bad Karma man... how do you expect a professional to play next to someone without days of preparation? “ Blimey sounds like Hollywood when he’s asked to say two lines in his latest film instead of just the one! Finally Cup Cake turned up and so Davison already having promised Harris a start dropped himself to sub, he wasn’t pleased but there you go. Krooner then made it known that a ref couldn’t make it and as the lads were really keen to play Davison volunteered to Ref the game... much to the annoyance of Thistle. They think I’m biased against them. All I can say is stop blaming the ref for your own mistakes. So there we have it... all great preparation for a big game. Thing is, why don’t we just play every week like we did against Crossley... I dunno.

Formation same as last week, a 442 for this one. The Team was - Conetta, Leach, Oakey, Gray, Harris, Lindley, Gadsen, Waygood, Holman, Scales, Milburn Subs - Winnard, Davison, Goacher, Marshall.

1st Half - An average start to the match with lots of niggles from both sides as they tried tricks from their old books to moan, bleat and blame the ref... I tell you kids today. Yeah OK, ALL of the bad things that happened to Thistle this week was down to the ref...does that help? The game was scrappy but Thistle had some good chances to open the scoring but failed to take them. The two quick front lads for Krooner were turning the defence inside out and also had some good chances but didn’t capitalize on them. The deadlock had to be broken and it came from second from bottom Krooner. Failure to pick up in the box found Krooner to head home and 1-0. Krooner then had a “clear Cut” penalty turned down as Harris decided to push the attacker to the ground but Ref Davison gave a freekick on the edge of the box. A let off for Thistle.

Thistle did make a come back towards the end of the 1st half, neat play from Gadsen found Shinner to head home 1-1. Neat work again from Gadsen this time found Lindley on the box and Awesome scored his 5th of the season. Thistle were on a roll and should have pushed on home for a win... but alas the consistent inconsistent form continued and slowly they allowed Krooner back in it. Half Time 2-1 Thistle.

Team talk had to come from Waygood as manager Davison was too busy being the ref and having no mates.

2nd Half - This half was to be most frustrating. the match going from one end to the other Thistle made hard work of it. Scales was subbed, not the managers call, with Holman going up front, Harris in the Centre and Goacher at the back. Still Krooner’s front caused headaches with lots of space being found. However as the game progressed Thistle were getting more frustrated with the Ref and they paid big time for switching off, sulking about the refs decisions... etc etc etc... I could go on but lets just say Krooner dealt with their frustrations much better. Any way.... it was on the cards, Harris pulled up twice for just late tackles found himself turned in the box, he then decided to upend the guy right there in front of everybody... Davison couldn’t believe his eyes and had no option other than to point to the spot. Thistle very unhappy but at least Conetta had the balls to speak the truth “yeah lads that was so obvious”. Up stepped Krooner... 2-2. Leachy made a great back post clearance as Krooner went in search for the winner. Thistle did come close a couple of times but the ball just wouldn’t roll right.

So full time, another 2 goals conceded, two pints dropped and with Frimley Falcons losing a very good chance of nicking top spot gone.

1 Game left against Phoenix, a win and Falcons lose their games against Krooner and Crossley and we are promoted. Falcons win 1 of their last two games they go up. Falcons get 1 point and we don’t overturn a 6 goal goal difference between us and Falcons they go up. Just think what would have been had we won this game and worried more about the game rather than the refs decisions... just think!!!

M.O.M - Nick Holman, a solid display
