The Lamb 2 v 0 Rose and Thistle (Divison 3 League Match)
What a match, what a day.
After being told to change into our white kit with blue shorts and socks the manager had a right old time trying to spot his team, it would’ve been easier to stick to Royal blue. The match, 2nd versus bottom was always going to be tricky because it was the Lamb. It didn’t matter that we had played well this season we somehow were overcome and lethargic. Starting line up Conetta, Gray, Oakey, Goacher, Leach, Holman, Waygood, Lindley, Gadsen, Bunce, Miller SUBS: Harris, Sutton, Winnard, Marshall, Scales. Not chosen in the squad was Davison, well he’s a Fat, Slow Bastard.
1st Half - A very lethargic first half with Thistle not really troubling The Lamb. For the first 20 mins we were pinned in our own half, giving away plenty of throw ins. Unable to really piece together many passes the chances created were ‘half chances’ with the lads seeming very out of salts. Lamb took the lead in the first half despite valiant defending from last weeks MOM , Phil Gray and the ever vocal Stu Goacher, both the lads had good games. The ball came across the area for the umpteenth time and on hand was a Lamb player to poke it in at the back post. Not much I can say really a disappointing first half.
2nd Half - Davison having to have a good think about who to sub as there were a number of candidates, the only one made though was Phil leach who wasn’t playing up to his usual standard. Awesome was to go right back and Marshall right wing. A good chance for Dan to show that he wants his place in the team.
Davison had pointed out a few things at half time and for the first 20 mins of the second half Thistle were winning the tackles and pushing forward. However after not getting the goal back the enthusiasm waned and The Lamb came back into it again. Captain Shinner came hobbling off with a knee injury, and so the second sub came on, Scales on, Buncey to the centre. It was only a matter of time as Dick Holman was beginning to get more frustrated The Lamb started to push even more. Again Gray and Goacher held back the tide of attack but in the end the final blow came from a log shot that sailed under the bar past Toni. 2-0 Lamb.
To be fair they deserved it and we didn’t, that simple. Rather disappointingly the subs really didn’t shine the way the manager would have hoped, considering it was their chance to prove they deserved a place in the starting line up next week. A poor display, a poor game and new away kit is on its way - Red. Having said that it wasn’t a disaster, we remain 2nd and well placed to push on from here.
Lads I believe in your ability 100%, its about time you did! We have the team, BUT it takes hard work and effort.
M.O.M - Quite easy this week, but needs to be less gobby to the refs. Its, and I can’t believe it...it’s Phil Sheep Shagger Gray.
