FC Mychett 1 v 3 Rose and Thistle            (Division 3 League Match)

With Jan not being the best of months for us we were glad to see the back of it, in rolled a new month and hopefully more of the same commitment.

Team wise, everybody seems to be coming back to full fitness what with one injury or another, except Davison who - instead of losing the pounds is gaining them!! Only one headache this week, Goalie “Cup Cake” Conetta fancied a trip to Scotland instead of helping out his mates. However that position soon filled by the ever expanding Davison.

Team Sheet - Davison, Oakey, Leach, Gray, Marsden, Scales, Lindley, Harris, Holman, Waygood, Millburn. Subs - Winnard, Trigger, Gadsen, Bunce, Marshall, Goacher. A few changes, Gadsen dropped to subs bench as he turned up late, Marshall and Goacher rested for this game. 

A nice day for a game of footie. An important match as FC Mychett found themselves in 4th place 4 points behind Thistle in second. A win would increase the gap a draw or defeat would pull Thistle back into the also ran pack.

1st Half - With both teams looking to play football it was a quite even game to begin with, Thistle just edging ahead on shoots on goal. With that said it was Mychett who opened their account first with a rather loose ball being picked up a few yards outside of the area. As the striker wasn’t closed down he had time to fire off a well placed shot that left Davison watching and the ball nestling nicely in the back of the net 1-0 Mychett. Thistle, as said many time this season, would have in the past dropped off and gone on to lose the game but this side is different now. Good build up on the right by Awesome found a very nice low cross across goal for Shinner Waygood to tap it past the keeper, 1-1. Shortly after Mr Gray had a nice chat with the ref about his Fucking language, the next one to Fucking swear is booked said the ref. Well sure enough the book came out, but not to Mr Gray but to a Mychett No6. Again Thistle were pulling the opposition apart with create crosses coming in, Marsden very unlucky with two headers, but the goal had to come. A corner from Scales found the boot of Marsden, 2-1 Thistle. The ref then played hi part in the last few mins of the first half with the Fucking Goalie swearing after catching a ball and a straight Red. Fuck off said the Ref, and off their keeper went. The first half closed with Thistle on top. 

2nd Half - Thistle for some reason, only beknown to them, played the second half in a most frustrating way. Despite only playing against 10 men they made very hard work of it. Davison and the defence were kept very busy as the match could have gone one way or the other. A second half substitute , Scales off Gadsen on, a straight swap. Still Mychett kept coming, Awesome getting most frustrated as there were acres of room on the right. Jonny got his chance to make it three as a ball broke out to him , only for him to decided which foot he was going to score with before missing - his mum was not best pleased!! Thistle did keep trying and towards the end the third came via a penalty. With Rik off there was some confusion but Harris wanted it. The ref was talking to Gadsen about his boots or something and Harris promptly missed. Ref ordered a retake, confusion kicked in as the manager wanted Hollywood to take it, Harris wanted it , and so up stepped Harris and it just slid under the keepers hand. On Thursday we are going to find out the penalty takers so that this doesn’t happen again. 3-1 Thistle, and relief all round. The match came to an end with a well deserved victory and three points. To things even better Top of the Table Falcons lost and so Thistle find them selves level with first place on points.

Next week its back to Crossley for the 2nd leg of the Cup and this time, with Davison being away, Dick Marshall will take over.

M.O.M - easy... Davison. No... it goes to Hollywood for his running through out the game, he is now looking like the player I thought he could be.
